The ESU 5 Reading Rally in Beatrice was filled with excitement as Tri County students showcased their impressive reading skills in the third annual competition. This event, which has now replaced the former Reading Classics, brought together 27 teams from 8 area schools. Students participated in an engaging day of friendly competition, demonstrating their knowledge of a wide range of books and earning well-deserved recognition. Our students have been working hard for months and we couldn't be prouder of their accomplishments!

A Morning of Intense Competition for 3rd and 4th Graders

The morning session featured fierce competition between 3rd and 4th grade students. Tri County was well-represented with four teams, including two 3rd grade teams and two 4th grade teams. A total of 16 teams from 8 area schools participated, with each team completing five rounds of 10 questions based on a list of books they had studied.

Tri County’s 3rd and 4th grade competitors displayed outstanding skill, with three of our teams tying for 2nd place, having only missed 2 questions out of 50—an incredible feat! The students who made this achievement possible were:

Afternoon Session: 5th and 6th Graders Take the Stage

The afternoon session saw our 5th and 6th grade students take on the challenge, competing in teams from a total of six schools. They competed in 6 rounds for a total of 60 questions. Tri County dominated the competition, taking the top five spots! With 11 teams in total, our students demonstrated their dedication to reading and studying by clinching the first five positions.

Tri County’s incredible sweep of the top five places in the 5th and 6th grade division is a testament to the hard work and dedication our students put into their reading preparation.

Looking Ahead: 7th/8th Graders Competing on Tuesday

While the 3rd-6th grade students gave it their all, the competition is not over yet! Tri County's 7th/8th grade team, consisting of Olivia Malin, Paizley Weber, Maggie White, Kherri Pfingsten, and Stella Morrissey, will compete in the upcoming session on Tuesday. We’re excited to see how they perform, and we are confident that they will continue Tri County's tradition of excellence in reading competitions.

Tri County’s Remarkable Achievement

In total, Tri County has 42 students from grades 3-8 participating in the ESU 5 Reading Rally, and their performance has been nothing short of spectacular. As we continue to foster a love of reading and encourage our students to challenge themselves, this event proves how far their dedication to learning can take them.
